Australian Sailing Powerboat Courses - what to expect
This course will cover both theory and practical safety boat skills throughout the day.
An excellent refresher or introduction to safety boat handling. Take the opportunity to skipper at least 2 different powerboats and develop your on-water skills including specific rescue skills to assist with club events.
The course fee includes a log book, qualified instruction, use of boats, and safety equipment, $150. Funding is available for active TSC volunteers - please email us for more information.
The powerboat handling course is a pre-requisite for an Australian Sailing Dinghy Instructor's qualification.
Please note this is not a QLD boat licensing course. Minimum and maximum participant numbers apply.
Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
